Subscription Advantage Packs Are Here!

Autodesk has released the Subscription Advantage Packs for 2011 products, available to all customers on subscription.  Some very intriguing new features have been added to the Autodesk product line including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MEP, Revit, and Navisworks.

For AutoCAD, we have the AutoCAD WS plugin, allowing you to share drawings directly from AutoCAD to mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad.  There’s an IGES import/export tool, and a DWG conversion tool that is a more robust method of converting drawings between various DWG formats.  The AutoCAD Advantage pack will work on other AutoCAD based verticals such as AutoCAD Map, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Architecture, and AutoCAD MEP.

The Advantage Pack for Civil 3D includes the ability to import styles and feature settings from a template or DWG, automatically populating a drawing that lacks styles.  Importing points from a point file is now easier, as it automatically predicts the format of the file, and shows you the results without having to mess with the Format Manager.  The new Coordinate Geometry Editor allows you to navigate and edit traverses with ease.

The FDO provider for ArcGIS allows both AutoCAD Map and Civil 3D to connect to an enterprise ArcSDE database or a personal ArcGIS Geodatabase.  You can even make direct edits to the objects provided you have the user credentials to edit the data.

The Autodesk Revit Server Extension is quite interesting, allowing access to a central model for all team members working on the project over a WAN.  A local server manages the model on each stakeholder’s LAN, synchronizing updates made to the central copy, while allowing user’s to work at LAN speed.  A great collaboration tool.

The Conceptual Energy Analysis tools for Revit Architecture and Revit MEP provide quick and efficient means of analyzing site design alternatives.

For Revit Structure, the floor vibration analyzer and column designer automate calculations and sizing, reducing the need for 3rd party software or doing calcs by hand.
